You might wonder what kind of topic I am into now . Well to answer this question I am working for a customer for over 15 moths now and he said my work wasnt good to go for 15 months long .

Customer are always right thats the kind of mentality we have as we work for them and they pay us to do. Well all these months i worked doing things that they said only and now they have a complain it took me way too long then expected.

My question to this customer “Can you stick to one thing and let me do it first and then if i still took time then you can complain ?”

Its like a title The Abortion Pill which I know it doesnt relate to anywhere near what i am trying to say . The kind mentality to have complains is similar . They are used to blaming me for things that do not complete on time. They never look at their mistake of giving too many things to be fixed and redone . Why cant they have something that is firm and never been changed ?

Every changes or enhancement means a time would be required to be done . If you want that to be done you should not be greedy enough to say i took more time then expected.

With Meta Keywords being absolute , meta description is also being less used these days in websites . What google does is, in any website if there is no “Meta Description” it reads the first paragraph of the website and creates a display content in search results.

What this mean is if you have a website where you do not intent to use “Meta Description” you may want to rethink on making the first paragraph of the website more seo friendly or rich keyword friendly.

I have optimized few websites recently without the use of meta description but at the same time optimizing the first paragrah more clinically and the results are very effective.

I recommend you guys to try the same and keep your fingers crossed

I am working on testing new techniques and doing a research over a period of 6 months. Having done research i have found something interesting.

Being Commercial & Choosing a Domain Name :

When you choose a domain dont just choose it becuase you like its name . Use a traffic estimator from google adwords which give you the idea of what kind of traffic you will get against ur domain .

For example you have a site which sell chocolates . The domain you want to buy could be buychocolates.com or any combination of buy/eat chocolates which would naturally make traffic high.

The other important element is the News. Write content which is around buy + eat + chocolates and publish it . News that relates to the content of the site and the objective of the domain makes the site better in the eyes of spider

Try auto generated news if you can .

Make sure all the other parameters like page title , header and the keyword -content are proportionate .

I tried in 5 different domains and the result was terriffic .

Try it out for a single page site and publish the news on the same page and see how it does in a month time

Its been a couple of week since i actually started working with google wave . Since google has bragged about it being a developer’s version I could see why they have stated .

Here are some of my experience using it for the last 14 days.

Google wave is slow

When i want to write any reply to user’s message it take a while before the text box appears .

The status bar doesn’t ever show the status as done. It gives the user a wrong impression that something will show up as its taking time to load up.

Sometimes when i reply any user i wonder the message is sent as everything looks static.

It logged me out many time for no reasons.

How useful Google wave is ?

Well as its meant for online collaboration it servers the primary purpose .

I no longer need to save the chat conversation and it keep the track of everything.

Did Google Wave helped my work to be smoother?

To be honest it takes a while before practically I would be confident on this application. Since I am not using this replacing my existing medium immediately its difficult to say it actually helped me to make my work smoother.

I look at different forums and jobs board where they have requirements for SEO consultants.

As we all know to be a SEO Consultant there is no such thing like a proper acadameic courses. I wonder how is it possible to master this art of a SEO consultant. I wonder how we would have created web pages should the need of SEO consultant wasnt there. Or the phenomena Search Engine optimization was not marked to its fuller extent.

Sometimes I feel its just a way to sell service and create a window of opportunities . Back in 2001 when i started working professionally in the web industry we never felt the requirement of having a carrer of a SEO consultant. Rather I used to work as a web consultant doing various work in the web industry.

I realize the need of seo consultant not for the sake of having it but to enhance the side of online marketing using the best practices. I also realize the niche in the market of a consultant just to look at the aspect of the website which was undermined.

We are in an era where the market place is very competitive and fast growing. The requirements from the website owners these days are specific and they are more educated on what they actually want unlike few years back. Website owners can now say I want this website to do this and I have this budget which is SMALL . They approach us by saying I want a site with a CMS ( Content Management System) or they could be even specific by saying I want Drupal or Joomla for my website as a backend .

Now as a web development company what I would look for is an alternative solution which is cheaper faster and which can be easily customized. I wont be looking to do things which would take time and still may not produce the same result that the client want. I would then go for an open source which is already available . I do what is required to be done within the stated time and within the SMALL budget given by the client .

It may be an advantage to a business that we don’t have to spent hours doing the same thing which is already been done. Having said that it may to some extent derail the creativity of a web developer. I wonder if someday we wont have anything to do except we would be assembling all the web applications. And website owners will look for open source application assembler.

Open Source Good Bad EVIL ?

I was going through some of the specs that a client sent to me today after we sent him back with the initial design as per his business requirements. When I got back feedback from the client it was all over the place including some specs design which if we had done would look completely a bizzare. The designer who worked on that initially was jumping on his seat and wondering about his experience in design industry.

Obviously there would a certian level of guidance on where the design should head . It would be unfair to the designer when it comes to potraying the design following the specs exactly.

It not only hampers the creativity of a deisnger but it also keeps the designers into a certain boundry which they wont come out in future.
